Lentils are a fast-cooking, protein-rich pulse and a staple food from South Asia to the Middle East and North Africa. FUSHKOV GCG supplies red and green lentils, whole and split, to importers and processors internationally on Incoterms 2020 terms.
Lentils (Lens culinaris) are small, lens-shaped seeds containing about 25% protein on a dry basis, as well as fibre and minerals. They cook quickly without soaking, which makes them one of the most popular pulses for everyday food. In trade lentils are classed by the colour of the seed and its inner part (cotyledon) and by seed size.

Red lentils are eaten mainly as split dal and in soups, and are also milled into flour for snacks and food ingredients. Green lentils are used whole in salads, stews and canned products. India, Bangladesh, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan are among the largest importers; Turkey and the UAE also process lentils for re-export. Major exporters include Canada, Australia, the United States, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Lentils are shipped in bulk, in big bags or in 25–50 kg bags, by sea, rail or multimodal routes. Split and football lentils for food use are usually packed in bags.
Red lentils have red-orange cotyledons and are mostly sold dehulled, whole or split; they cook down quickly. Green lentils keep their seed coat and shape when cooked and are sold whole, graded by size.
Football lentils are red lentils with the seed coat removed but not split. Split red lentils are the same product divided into two halves.
Dried, shelled lentils are classified under HS 0713 40. The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
