Black Matpe Supplier — Wholesale Urad Beans
Black matpe, known in India as urad or black gram, is a key pulse of South Asian cuisine and dal milling. FUSHKOV GCG supplies whole black matpe to importers and dal mills worldwide on Incoterms 2020 terms.
What black matpe is
Black matpe (Vigna mungo), also called urad bean or black gram, is a close relative of the mung bean. The small, oblong seeds have a black seed coat and a creamy white inside. Black matpe typically contains about 22–26% protein on a dry basis. When ground and soaked it forms a smooth, slightly mucilaginous batter, which is why it is essential for fermented South Indian foods.

Main uses and markets
India is by far the largest producer and consumer of black matpe and relies on imports to cover part of its demand. Urad dal is cooked as dal makhani and other dishes, and soaked urad is ground with rice for idli and dosa batter and used to make papad. Myanmar is the leading exporting country; other producers include India, Pakistan and countries of Southeast Asia. Smaller volumes go to South Asian communities worldwide.
Packaging and logistics
Black matpe is typically shipped in 25–50 kg bags or big bags loaded into containers, and can also be shipped in bulk. Transport is by sea, rail or multimodal routes. Moisture and storage conditions are controlled to protect the beans against insects and mould.
