Canary Seed Supplier — Wholesale Birdseed Grain
Canary seed is a special crop grown mainly as the core ingredient of birdseed mixes for caged and wild birds. FUSHKOV GCG supplies canary seed to birdseed packers and processors worldwide on Incoterms 2020 terms.
What canary seed is
Canary seed (Phalaris canariensis) is the grain of an annual grass related to the cereals. It is not a pulse, but it is traded alongside pulses and other special crops by the same exporters and buyers. The small, glossy, pale yellow to brown seeds are enclosed in a hull. Traditional varieties carry fine hairs on the hull that irritate skin during handling; hairless (glabrous) varieties were developed to solve this and now account for much of the crop in leading producing countries.

Main uses and markets
Nearly all canary seed is used as bird feed, either on its own or as the main component of seed mixes for pet and wild birds. Demand comes from birdseed packers in Europe, Latin America and other regions where keeping songbirds is popular. Food use of dehulled seed from hairless varieties is a small but developing niche. Canada is the leading producer and exporter; other producing countries include Argentina and Australia.
Packaging and logistics
Canary seed is shipped in 25–50 kg bags or big bags in containers, or in bulk for large lots, by sea, rail or multimodal routes. Lots are cleaned to the contract purity before loading.

Can canary seed be used for food?
Dehulled seed from hairless varieties has been approved for human food in some markets. Food use requires food-grade handling and the relevant approvals in the destination country.
Which HS code applies to canary seed?
Canary seed is classified under HS 1008 30. The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
