Diammonium phosphate (DAP) is the world’s most widely traded phosphate fertiliser, combining nitrogen and phosphorus in one granule. FUSHKOV GCG supplies DAP 18-46-0 to agricultural buyers internationally on Incoterms 2020 terms.
Diammonium phosphate, (NH4)2HPO4, is made by reacting phosphoric acid with ammonia. A standard grade contains 18% nitrogen and 46% phosphorus expressed as P2O5 — 64% of nutrients in total, which makes DAP one of the most concentrated and cost-efficient sources of phosphorus.
| Parameter | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Total nitrogen (N), min | 18.0% |
| Phosphorus (P2O5), min | 46.0% |
| Moisture, max | 2.0% |
| Granule size | 2–4 mm, 90% min |
| Colour | Depends on the phosphate rock: from light grey to dark brown |
| HS code | 3105 30 |
Reference values for typical commercial grades. The final specification is fixed in the contract; the final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
DAP is applied before or at sowing as a starter fertiliser for cereals, maize, oilseeds, cotton and vegetables, providing phosphorus for root development together with nitrogen. In the soil it temporarily raises the pH around the granule, so it is usually placed at some distance from the seed.
Both are ammonium phosphates classified under HS heading 3105. DAP contains more nitrogen (18% against 11%), MAP more phosphorus (52% against 46%) and is less alkaline in the soil. The choice depends on the crop, soil pH and the nitrogen programme. See MAP 11-52-0.
DAP is shipped in bulk, in big bags or in 50 kg bags, by sea, rail or multimodal routes.
The grade shows 18% nitrogen (N), 46% phosphorus expressed as P2O5 and no potassium (K2O), as a percentage by weight.
The colour depends on the phosphate rock and the production process, from light grey to dark brown. It does not indicate the nutrient content, which is fixed in the specification.
Diammonium hydrogenorthophosphate (DAP) is classified under HS 3105 30, not under heading 3103. The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
