High-Oleic Sunflower Oil Supplier — Crude and Refined HOSO
High-oleic sunflower oil is pressed from sunflower hybrids bred for a high content of oleic acid, which makes it far more stable than conventional sunflower oil. FUSHKOV GCG supplies crude and refined high-oleic sunflower oil to food manufacturers and refiners worldwide on Incoterms 2020 terms.
What high-oleic sunflower oil is
Conventional sunflower oil is rich in linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated fatty acid. High-oleic varieties are bred so that monounsaturated oleic acid dominates instead, giving a profile closer to olive oil. The oil resists oxidation at high temperatures and has a long shelf life without hydrogenation, so it often replaces partially hydrogenated fats and palm-based frying oils. Major producing and exporting countries include Ukraine, Russia, Argentina and countries of the European Union such as France, Spain and Hungary.

| Oleic acid (C18:1) | Typically 80% min |
| Linoleic acid (C18:2) | Typically below 10–12% |
| Free fatty acids (as oleic), max | 0.1% (refined); as specified in the contract (crude) |
| Moisture and volatile matter, max | Typically 0.1% (refined) |
| Peroxide value, colour | As specified in the contract |

Reference values for typical commercial grades. The final specification is fixed in the contract; the final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
Main uses and markets
High-oleic sunflower oil is used for industrial and restaurant frying, snacks and crisps, bakery and confectionery products, spreads, infant and clinical nutrition, and in cosmetics and bio-based lubricants. Food manufacturers often choose it to extend frying oil life and product shelf life and to support clean-label recipes.
Packaging and logistics
High-oleic sunflower oil is shipped in bulk in tankers or in flexitanks in containers, by sea, rail or multimodal routes. It is kept segregated from conventional sunflower oil so that the oleic acid specification is preserved.

Frequently asked questions
How does high-oleic differ from regular sunflower oil?
Regular sunflower oil is mostly linoleic acid; high-oleic oil is mostly oleic acid. This makes it more resistant to oxidation, with longer frying life and shelf life.
How is the oleic acid content verified?
By gas chromatography analysis of the fatty acid profile, usually performed by an independent laboratory on samples taken at loading.
Which HS code applies to high-oleic sunflower oil?
Sunflower-seed oil falls under HS 1512 11 (crude) and 1512 19 (other, including refined). The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
