Ammonium Sulphate Supplier — 21% N, 24% S

Ammonium sulphate supplies two nutrients in one product: nitrogen in ammonium form and sulphur in readily available sulphate form. FUSHKOV GCG supplies crystalline and granular ammonium sulphate to agricultural buyers and blenders internationally on Incoterms 2020 terms.

What ammonium sulphate is

Ammonium sulphate, (NH4)2SO4, is a white to off-white salt containing 21% nitrogen and 24% sulphur. Much of the world’s supply is a co-product of caprolactam manufacture and coke-oven gas cleaning; it is also produced directly from ammonia and sulphuric acid. China is the largest exporter.

Crystalline and granular

Crystalline (standard)
Fine to medium crystals, used for direct application, in NPK production and in liquid and soluble formulations.
Granular / compacted
Larger particles, typically 2–4 mm, sized for bulk blending with urea, DAP, MAP and potash and for even spreading.

Use in agriculture

Sulphur is essential for protein synthesis, and deficiency has become more common as industrial sulphur emissions have fallen. Ammonium sulphate is applied to oilseed rape, canola, cereals, maize, rice, potatoes and pastures, often in spring. It has an acidifying effect on the soil, which makes it especially useful on neutral and alkaline soils, and its ammonium nitrogen is less prone to leaching than nitrate.

Packaging and logistics

Ammonium sulphate is shipped in bulk, in big bags or in 50 kg bags, by sea, rail or multimodal routes. Granular material handles better in bulk and blending; crystalline grades are usually packed to limit caking.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose ammonium sulphate instead of urea?

Urea supplies more nitrogen per tonne, but ammonium sulphate also supplies 24% sulphur, which many crops, especially oilseed rape, need. It is often used together with urea in a nitrogen programme.

What is the difference between crystalline and granular grades?

The nutrient content is the same. Granular material has larger, uniform particles for blending and spreading; crystalline material is mainly used for direct application and in fertiliser production.

Which HS code applies to ammonium sulphate?

Ammonium sulphate is classified under HS 3102 21. The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
