Ammonium nitrate is a fast-acting nitrogen fertiliser that supplies half of its nitrogen as nitrate and half as ammonium. FUSHKOV GCG supplies fertiliser-grade ammonium nitrate 34.4% N to agricultural buyers internationally on Incoterms 2020 terms, subject to the regulations of the destination country.
Ammonium nitrate, NH4NO3, is produced by neutralising nitric acid with ammonia and then prilling or granulating the melt. The fertiliser grade contains 34–34.4% nitrogen, split equally between the nitrate form, which plants take up immediately, and the ammonium form, which acts over a longer period. Russia is among the major exporters.
| Parameter | Typical value |

| Moisture, max | 0.3% |
| Particle size 1–4 mm, min | 95% |
| Conditioning | Anti-caking treatment, mineral additives |

Reference values for typical commercial grades. The final specification is fixed in the contract; the final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
Ammonium nitrate is used as a top dressing for winter and spring cereals, oilseed rape, maize, sugar beet, potatoes and pastures. Because part of its nitrogen is in nitrate form, it works quickly even in cool weather, and ammonia losses from surface application are lower than with urea. Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) is a related product in which ammonium nitrate is mixed with limestone or dolomite.
Ammonium nitrate is an oxidising substance and is classified as dangerous goods for transport. In many countries its import, storage and sale are subject to licensing or special rules, so the buyer’s permits and the destination requirements are confirmed before a contract is signed. Product is stored dry, away from heat, fuels and organic materials.
Ammonium nitrate is usually shipped in big bags or in 50 kg bags, by sea, rail or multimodal routes, in line with dangerous goods rules.
Urea contains 46% N in amide form, which must be converted in the soil before plants use it. Ammonium nitrate contains 34.4% N, half of it as nitrate available immediately, so it acts faster and loses less nitrogen to the air.
In many countries, yes. Import and storage rules for ammonium nitrate differ by destination, and the buyer’s documents are checked before the contract.
Ammonium nitrate, whether or not in aqueous solution, is classified under HS 3102 30. The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
