Commodity Logistics, Port Handling and Storage

A commodity cargo usually changes mode of transport several times between the producer and the end buyer — from truck or rail to port, from silo to vessel and onward to an inland destination. FUSHKOV GCG organises sea, rail and multimodal logistics, port handling and storage so that each stage of the chain is coordinated under one supply contract.

What the service covers

Logistics in physical trade means planning the route, booking transport capacity, arranging handling at terminals, storing goods where needed and preparing transport documents. We plan the chain together with the delivery basis of the contract: the Incoterms 2020 rule determines where responsibility and risk pass from seller to buyer, and logistics is organised accordingly.

Transport modes

Sea
Bulk carriers, tankers and container lines for international shipments; see also freight and chartering.
Rail
Grain hopper wagons, tank cars, covered wagons and containers on rail for inland and cross-border routes.
Multimodal
Combinations of rail, road and sea, including transshipment between bulk and containers.
Storage
Silos, warehouses and tank storage at origin, port or destination to accumulate or release cargo.

Quality and documentation

Quantity and quality are typically checked by an independent inspector at loading, and the results are recorded in inspection certificates. A standard document set may include the bill of lading or rail waybill, commercial invoice, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate where required, and quality and weight certificates; the exact set is fixed in the contract.

Packaging

Cargo is shipped in bulk, big bags or bags; vegetable oils can also travel in flexitanks. Packaging is chosen according to the product, route and the buyer’s handling facilities.

Frequently asked questions

Can cargo be stored before shipment?

Yes. Where needed, cargo can be accumulated in silos, warehouses or tanks at origin or at port before loading. Storage terms and costs are agreed in the contract.

Do you deliver by rail?

Yes. Rail is used both for delivery to ports and for direct cross-border deliveries to inland buyers, in wagons or containers.

Who clears the goods through customs?

Import customs clearance is normally handled by the buyer or its customs declarant, unless the contract provides otherwise, for example under DDP.
