Peanut Meal Supplier — Groundnut Meal and Cake
Peanut meal, also called groundnut meal, is the high-protein residue from peanut oil extraction and a valuable protein ingredient for compound feed. FUSHKOV GCG supplies peanut meal and cake to feed manufacturers and livestock producers worldwide on Incoterms 2020 terms.
What peanut meal is
Peanuts (groundnuts) are shelled and the kernels are pressed or solvent-extracted to obtain peanut oil. The remaining meal is one of the richest plant protein sources, with good palatability. Its protein is lower in lysine and methionine than soybean meal, so formulators combine it with other proteins or amino acids. Because peanuts are prone to Aspergillus mould, aflatoxin control is the key quality issue. Supply comes from the major peanut-producing countries, including China, India, Nigeria, Senegal, Argentina and Sudan.
Types of peanut meal
Typical specification (reference)
| Parameter | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Moisture, max | Typically 10–12% |
| Crude protein | Typically 40–50%, by type |
| Crude fat | Typically 1–2% for meal; higher for cake |
| Crude fibre | Typically 6–10% |
| Aflatoxin B1 | Within the limits of the destination country |
| Sand and silica | As agreed in the contract |
| HS code | 2305 (oilcake of ground-nuts) |
Reference values for typical commercial grades. The final specification is fixed in the contract; the final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
Main uses and markets
- Ruminants. Peanut meal is a palatable protein supplement for dairy and beef cattle, sheep and goats.
- Aquaculture. Used in fish and shrimp feed as a binder and plant protein, often alongside fishmeal and soybean meal.
- Poultry and pigs. Moderate inclusion with amino acid supplementation, provided aflatoxin levels comply with feed regulations.
Packaging and logistics
Peanut meal is shipped in bulk in vessel holds or containers, in big bags or in bags, by sea, rail or multimodal routes. Dry storage and moisture control are essential, as warm and humid conditions encourage mould growth and aflatoxin formation.

Frequently asked questions
Why is aflatoxin so important for peanut meal?
Peanuts are susceptible to moulds that produce aflatoxins, which are strictly limited in feed in most countries. Samples drawn at loading are analysed, and limits are fixed in the contract.
How does peanut meal compare with soybean meal?
Protein content can be similar, but peanut meal is lower in lysine and methionine. Formulators balance it with other protein sources or synthetic amino acids.
Which HS code applies to peanut meal?
Oilcake and other solid residues from the extraction of ground-nut oil are classified under HS heading 2305. The final classification of a lot is confirmed by the customs declarant.
